Duck hunting is a cold-weather activity, and for some reason, ducks seem to fly best when the weather is at its worse. Come prepared with warm, insulated, camouflage clothing – that’s essential. For a jacket, you’ll want something that is warm, waterproof and not too heavy nor too light.
Bring reliable waders that don’t leak, preferably the newer ones that are made of neoprene for warmth and flexibility.
Gloves of course are also essential, and a camouflage face-mask is highly recommended. Ducks can see light reflecting off your face from a long distance, and they will be far less likely to come-in close if they see anything that appears unusual or flashy to them.

In South Texas, there’s never a poor duck hunting season!
Duck and waterfowl hunting is a Texas tradition that gives men and women alike an opportunity to be in the moment. Immersing yourself into something that needs patience, passion and accuracy.
It’s hard to explain to someone who has never been duck hunting that it is so much more than simply shooting unsuspecting ducks – usually in the cold of winter.
No, it is about being caught up in one special moment absorbing the sights, sounds, tastes, smells and feelings of the great outdoors.
And it’s a fun social occasion for close friends and family, so don’t wait:
